Skills: Design System, UX and UI Strategy, Research and Team management

I led the creation of Spark, the design system that unified Uswitch’s digital experience across products and platforms.

My role went beyond assembling components — it was about translating Uswitch’s refreshed brand into a scalable and accessible system that empowered product teams to deliver faster while maintaining a consistent user experience.

Ensuring Accessibility through design

A major focus of my role was ensuring inclusive design at scale. I worked closely with V3, Uswitch’s brand agency, to ensure the new identity translated seamlessly into digital. This involved adapting colours, iconography, illustrations and tone of voice into design tokens and components that met accessibility standards.

My team and I worked tirelessly with various experts, to embed accessibility into the system’s foundation, Spark was not only brand-consistent but also inclusive and compliant across touchpoints.

Cross-team collaboration

The pivtol element to Spark’s success was, without a doubt, collaboration with various teams. In fact, I made sure to foster a collaboration culture, partnering with the DevOps Team, the Head of Design and all Product Owners to ensure the system aligned with both technical and product goals.

This meant establishing patterns that were consistent, reusable and scalable, while giving teams the flexibility to adapt without losing cohesion. But also allowing for constant communication between my team and the wider Uswitch family; setting up critiques, milestone catch-ups and regular meetings to inform about changes, new implementations and design system library evolution.

Spark became more than a toolkit: it was (and hopefully still is) the a framework to promote Uswitch’s "new" design culture, enabling cross-functional teams to move faster, reduce duplication and build trust through consistency.
